The Collab that never happened

A letter FOR Andy Mineo not TO Andy Mineo

Dear Christian Artists,
First let me get the preliminaries out of the way. I am a nobody. That’s my autobiography.  This is not my attempt to get shine or become known because I put Andy Mineo’s name in this letter. I usually limit my rants to Facebook as that is my domain and area to vent so this is quite out of the norm.  I had a dream to write this letter and was in my dream given the scriptures to use in this approach so that it would not just be me attacking anyone.
There was a story of a rich young ruler in Mark.  He came to Jesus, knelt and said basically, what must I do to inherit Eternal Life?  He refers to Jesus as Good Teacher.  Jesus replies with the sentiment, why call me good?  There is none good but God.  Jesus then says something we are all familiar with. He names some of the commandments and a few extra requirements. The young ruler states he has kept all those.  Jesus the Christ, Son of God, and reason for our Salvation says this: One thing you lack sell all you have give to the poor and then you will have treasure in heaven and come and FOLLOW ME. The NASB states unequivocally that he states this in love.  The young ruler inevitably was saddened and grieving and went away because he had much property. (Link)
Jesus then turns to his disciples and begins to teach on the discourse that ends in the “camel through the eye of a needle” passage.
Now as an artist, you are probably asking what does this have to do with Andy Mineo? Recently Andy via a link posted on MTV stated that he is inspired by Kanye West and would love to get into a conversation that would lead to a collaboration. He also mentioned that he thought J. Cole and other rappers might be of interest citing the popular phrase “beasts” in his assessment of their vocal skills.  He stated that a conversation with one or some of these artists and/or a possible collaboration would inevitably (paraphrasing) may be something that could be beneficial.
Collaboration; hmmmm; exactly what type of collaboration between Kanye, J. Cole and Andy Mineo would be beneficial or positive?  First and foremost some would say he we are exposing Kanye, J. Cole and other non-believers to the Gospel message as is the aim of Reach Records – 116 clique. (Google it). It would serve to introduce the world at large to an unknown giant in the Christian rap  arena. It would also serve to introduce a one on one dialogue to artists like Kanye and J. Cole who may not understand the Gospel message completely.  There seems to be only one issue.  Kanye’s lastest album is called Yeezus and J. Cole  (whom I have never heard of outside of google) chose to name his lastest body of work Born Sinner.  Would titles like this indicate that J. Cole and Ye have never heard the message or would it indicate they have both heard the message and chosen to continue on the path that best suits the desires of their hearts?  What about all the believers who have NOT heard the music of either of the two artists? Is it necessary to expose them to such works for the sake of winning them over to a Christ they seem to already know about?
In the text given to me in my dream, I had no clue how this tied into the subject. I racked my brain over and over again until it totally made sense. (Thank you Holy Spirit). A man who was already wealthy and well off came to God and asked God what must I do to inherit eternal life. God replies with something the well off ruler already knew. The ruler replies with I have already kept all “behaviors” outwardly to be called a believer and seemingly inherit eternal life. God responds and asks the ruler to do something the ruler has not attempted to do: give up everything and follow Me.  The ruler is saddened and grieving and leaves the presence of the God.  Here is where it all made sense.  At no point in the story does God or the disciples reach back out to this individual to restore, explain or work things out.  The disciples make no attempt to make the ruler feel better.  Jesus turns his attention to those who are actively following him and continues to use the example of the departed grieving rich ruler as an example to the struggle that will plague others just like him: complete submission.
After God had fully disclosed what He needed to disclose to the ruler and the ruler rejected what God had to offer, the two parted ways. There was no need for any further communication, no need for any further instructions or sermon; no need for any collaboration.
Christian artists, I pose a question for you in this context, if Jesus and His followers didn’t feel the need immediately to reach out to an individual that clearly knew the practices, requirements & mandates of  God, was already established and well off and still chose to reject God, why do you?  Why do you feel the need to continue to collaborate with those who grew up in the teaching of the Lord and chose to venture out into their own fields of music that contradict and combat the Gospel message you proclaim is your focus?  The Gospel needs no help from us, the devil, the world or our own actions or desires to validate itself.  It is self sufficient.
I looked up the word collaboration to see if there is something that could end this letter and bring it all home and this is what I found this:
col·lab·o·ra·tion   kəˌlabəˈrāSHən/ noun
1.  the action of working with someone to produce or create something.   Ex: “he wrote on art and architecture in collaboration with John Betjeman”
The second definition is where it all hit home for me.

2.traitorous cooperation with an enemy.

I guess the only question is now which collaboration are you planning on doing?
Sincerly yours,
M
